1 · Who this policy is from

BudgetSpawn is a personal finance app published by BudgetSpawn. If you have a question about this policy, or about anything the app does with your information, write to developer@budgetspawn.com.

2 · What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter is stored in the app's own private storage on your device. It is not transmitted to us and we have no way to read it.

• SetupThe name you choose to be greeted by, your country, currency, pay frequency and payday dates.
• MoneyYour goals and their targets and dates, amounts saved, loans taken against your own savings, interest, buffer balance, and every ledger entry.
• SecurityThe PIN you set to open the app, and your recovery code. Both are stored on the device only and are never sent anywhere.
• Saved setupsAny templates you save so you can reload an arrangement later.

We do not ask for your identity number, your bank details, your card numbers or your address, because the app has no use for them. Goal descriptions are free text, so please don't type anything there you wouldn't want on your own phone.

3 · What we collect about you

Nothing, automatically. BudgetSpawn contains no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, we do not know how often you open the app, and we cannot see a single figure in it.

The one exception is entirely in your hands, and it is described next.

If you choose to send feedback

Settings contains a "Tell us about your experience!" option. Choosing it opens your own e-mail app with a message addressed to developer@budgetspawn.com. Nothing is sent unless you press send in that app. When you do, we receive whatever you wrote, any file you attached yourself, and your e-mail address, because that is how e-mail works. We use it to answer you and to fix what you reported, and we do not add it to any mailing list.

4 · Permissions the app asks for

• InternetNot requested. The released app does not declare the internet permission, so it cannot connect to anything, including us. Tapping a link in the app hands that address to your browser, which is a separate app.
• CameraDeclared for a barcode scanner that is not available in this release. It is never opened, and nothing is captured or stored.
• StorageUsed only when you save or print a statement, and only for the file you asked for.

5 · Backups

Android can copy an app's data into a user's Google account by default. BudgetSpawn switches that off deliberately, so your ledger is not uploaded anywhere without your knowledge. If a backup feature is offered in future, it will be something you are asked about and choose, never something that happens to you.

6 · Deleting your information

• All of itUninstall the app. Everything it stored goes with it. Because nothing was sent to us, there is nothing left elsewhere to delete.
• Your boardLoading a saved setup from the Templates screen clears the current goals and balances and starts again.

We never delete your ledger records ourselves. We cannot — we do not hold them.

7 · Paid features in future

Everything above describes BudgetSpawn as it is released today, and today the whole app works offline.

Paid features are planned that will need an internet connection to do their job — keeping your figures in step across more than one device, looking a product up when you scan it, and letting the members of a shared savings group see the same record. Those features do not exist in this release and nothing in the app connects to anything today.

None of them will arrive quietly. Before any of them is released, this policy will be replaced with a version that describes exactly what is sent, who receives it, where it is kept and how you turn it off — and the app will ask you before anything leaves your phone. The offline app will remain offline.

8 · Children

BudgetSpawn is a household budgeting tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

9 · Payments

This release is free and is not a trial. Should paid features be offered in future, payment would be handled entirely by Google Play under Google's own terms and privacy policy. We would never see or store your card details.

10 · Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the version and date at the top of this page change with it, and the current version always lives at this address. Material changes will be described in the app's What's new notes.

11 · Your rights

Data protection law, including South Africa's POPIA and the GDPR where it applies, gives you rights to access, correct and erase personal information held about you. In BudgetSpawn's case those rights are satisfied by the design: the information is on your device, you can read and change all of it in the app, and you can erase all of it by uninstalling. If you have written to us, you may ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
